The group's unlikely choice features on the B-side of their comeback single 'Taste In Men'...

PLACEBO have covered a song by Robert Palmer on the B-side of their new single, ‘TASTE IN MEN’.

Placebo cover ‘John & Mary’, a track which Palmer originally released as a single in 1980 from his album ‘Clues’.The track only reached Number 44 on its original release in the UK.

Other B-sides on the single include a new track, ‘Theme From Funky Reverend’, as well as remixes of ‘Taste In Men’ by Alpinestars and Adrian Sherwood.

The single is released on July 17 through Hut, and precedes the band’s as-yet-untitled third album, which they plan to release in the autumn.

The album is co-produced by Placebo and Paul Corkett, who worked on the band’s last album. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London.

The new record features a number of collaborations with artists including American rapper Justin Warfield, PJ Harvey‘s drummer and string arranger Rob Ellis, and Caroline Finch, singer/guitarist in Linoleum.

Placebo are confirmed to return to the live arena with a show at the Carling Weekend Festivals in Leeds (August 26) and Reading (27).
