Plan B: ‘I want to release a punk album’

'I want to go different each time, or why bother?' says Ben Drew

Plan B has said that he’d like to make a punk album when he finishes with his Strickland Banks album series.

The singer, real name Ben Drew, said he doesn’t wish to produce another album in the same sonic vein as his 2010 commercial breakthrough ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’.

“I want to go different each time or else why bother?” he told The Sun.

Drew is already planning to release new hip-hop album ‘The Ballad Of Belmarsh’ this year, which will also follow the story of his Banks character. Now he’s said he’s up for collaborating with “underground” punk acts on another record.

“I won’t do a punk record with loads of old punk artists, but with proper punk artists, ones at an underground level because that’s what punk is,” he said.

He didn’t give any clues as to when he plans to release his punk album.
