Police investigate sexual assault at Download Festival

A police investigation has been launched after an alleged sexual assault on a woman at Download Festival last weekend.

The incident is believed to have happened in the early hours of Monday. A 21-year-old man from Derbyshire has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been subsequently released under investigation while police continue their investigations into the incident.

Festival-goers reported noticing a number of tents that were cordoned off at the site on Monday morning.

Forensic police officers were also sighted at the Midlands festival.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “The victim is being supported by specialist officers while inquiries into the incident are carried out.”

Download Festival has confirmed that they are assisting police with all enquiries relating to the incident.

Last weekend’s festival saw headline slots from Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses and Ozzy Osbourne.
