Pond dress as old ladies in surreal video for new single ‘Zond’ – watch

Australian band appear in Jeff Koons inspired promo

Pond have unveiled the surreal video for new single ‘Zond’, taken from their forthcoming album ‘Man, It Feels Like Space Again’.

Filmed in December on their arrival home from extensive American touring, the ‘Zond’ video was captured at Melbourne’s Westworld with a host of local collaborators.

Director Lord Fascinator says the hardest part of making the video was “finding three elderly citizens who looked identical to what our computer projections told us Jay, Joe and Nick will look like in the twilight of their lives. The Jeff Koons inspired inflatable toy band was brilliantly sculpted by our monster maker, Hayley Callander.”

Pond will tour the UK in February. The band, who feature Tame Impala associates Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson and Cam Avery among their ranks, will play gigs in Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Manchester and Bristol. Scroll down for venue and ticket details.

‘Zond’ is the third song to be lifted from the band’s new album following ‘Sitting Up On Our Crane’ and ‘Elvis’ Flaming Star’. ‘Man, It Feels Like Space Again’ will be released on January 26 via Caroline Records. It is Pond’s sixth album, and their first since 2013’s ‘Hobo Rocket’.

Pond will play:

Sheffield The Leadmill (February 20)
Glasgow Oran Mor (23)
Birmingham The Library (24)
London Electric Ballroom (25)
Manchester Academy 2 (26)
Bristol Fleece (27)
