Portishead to play trio of European festivals in 2013

The band are currently working on their fourth album

Portishead have announced plans to play three European festival shows next year.

The trip-hop pioneers will first play Caprices Festival in Crans-Montana, Switzerland on March 12, 2013.

They will then appear at Sweden’s Hultsfred Festival over the weekend of June 13-15 and then NorthSide Festival in Aarhus, Denmark, which takes place between June 14 and 16.

Portishead released their third studio album, ‘Third’, in 2008. They are currently working on its follow-up.

Geoff Barrow of the band told The Quietus, earlier this year: “We’ve been getting together recently and talking about lots of stuff. There’s definitely going to be another record, we’re just going to get on it as soon as my studio gets working.”

Barrow also recently dubbed the late Amy Winehouse a “fake” singer, calling her “Whiney Shitehouse”.

The producer told ElectronicBeats.net: “I think Whiney Shitehouse – Amy Winehouse, by the end of it, had just become a comic character of herself and how she sang.”

He added: “It seemed fake, but because there was a massive drug problem you couldn’t say it was fake, but her actual voice was fake. She had a real life with a fake voice.”
