Trio will play shows in Italy, France and Spain this summer

Portishead have announced a European tour for this summer.

The trio, who recently confirmed that they will record a fourth album, will play shows in Spain, France and Italy during a short trek round Europe.

The dates kick off on June 22 in Barcelona with two shows at the city’s Poble Espanyol, they then move on to the French city of Vienne to play the Theatre Antique de Vienne on June 25. The following day they play Verona’s Castello Scaligero
, before finally playing Rome’s Ippodromo delle Capannelle on June 27.

The band released their last album ‘Third’ in 2008, their first studio record since 1997’s self-titled effort and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Barrow recently said that they are working on a fourth record.

“We’ve been getting together recently and talking about lots of stuff. There’s definitely going to be another record, we’re just going to get on it as soon as my studio gets working,” he said.

Geoff Barrow is set to release the soundtrack to last year’s indie hit Drive on vinyl, through his Invada Records label.

The soundtrack to the Ryan Gosling starring film featured 1980s electro-pop-inspired music by Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx, Cliff Martinez, The Chromatics, Desire and Riziero Ortolani. The soundtrack will get its first vinyl release on May 21.

Portishead will play:

Barcelona Poble Espanyol (June 22, 23)
Vienne Theatre Antique de Vienne (25)
Verona
 Castello Scaligero
 (26)
Rome Ippodromo delle Capannelle (27)
