The Pogues singer makes an appearance and sings on 'Loaded'...
PRIMAL SCREAM were joined by a very special guest during their gig at GLASGOW ACADEMY on Saturday (January 17).
According to a fan: “Shane MacGowan stumbled on stage, beer in hand to rapturous applause from the sold out crowd.”
He added: “Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream‘s singer) and he seemed to be sharing a joke and some conversation followed with Shane MacGowan then taking the microphone and singing what can only be described as the “Woo-wooo’s” from the Stones‘ ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ over the top of the song. The crowd joined in en masse. It was brilliant.”
[a][/a], who had been playing at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall the previous night with The Popes (January 16), also re-emerged later during the second encore to sing with Primal Scream on ‘Born To Lose’.
As previously reported on NME.COM, Primal Scream‘s Gillespie will be taking over a whole radio station to curate a ‘virtual festival’ this month.
After a successful similar project with Radiohead, digital station BBC 6Music will let Gillespie select his favourite rock classics from the BBC archives.
Over the weekend of January 24-25, the singer will appear on shows throughout the weekend to play his choice of sessions and live recordings for the ‘fantasy music festival’.
