THE SCREAM DO IT THEMSELVES

The Scream warm-up for Aussie fest The Big Day Out - and Bobby G makes debut as interior designer...

It’s been revealed that Primal Scream are now playing two low-key warm-up dates before their trip to Australia for The Big Day Out travelling festival.

The band play Gloucester Guidhall on January 15 and Oxford Zodiac on January 16, as already announced here on nme.com. Both gigs have already sold out.

The Primals then make the journey Down Under for The Big Day Out festival (January 23 – February 6) where they’ll play alongside CHEMICAL BROTHERS, JOE STRUMMER & THE MESCALEROES, NINE INCH NAILS and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.

It’s thought another warm-up is being planned, but no details have been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, PRIMALS frontman BOBBY GILLESPIE is designing a room for Brighton’s new Hotel Pelirocco, due to open in late spring. Bobby G and ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION are both taking part in the design of the hotel which will feature 18 themed rooms, covering the last 30 years of British youth culture.

ADF’s PANDIT G told nme.com: “Apparently we’re going to be decorating this hotel. Bobby G is going to be plastering it and I’m going to be papering it. I’m handling the feng shui side of things.”

“We don’t know that much about it at the moment but it’s going to be a bit like ‘Changing Rooms’ (UK interior design and DIY television programme) I think.”

After The Big Day Out, The Scream return to the UK for a full tour which calls at Nottingham Rock City (March 8), Sheffield Octagon (9), Norwich UEA (10) and Newcastle University (12), Edinburgh Corn Exchange (March 13), Manchester Ritz (14) and London Hammersmith Palais (15).
