TRIGGER HAPPY SCREAM!

Steve Jones plays with the group in Los Angeles while Ian Astbury and Alan McGee look on...

Former Sex Pistols guitarist STEVE JONES joined Primal Scream onstage last night (June 9) for a surprise collaboration at the HOUSE OF BLUES in Los Angeles.

Taking cues from Scream guitarists Throb and Kevin Shields, Jones joined in for ‘Accelerator’ from the group’s current album ‘Exterminator’, and for a cover of the MC5’s ‘Kick Out The Jams’ during the band’s second encore.

Jones then came out with the boys for a third and final encore where they charged through The Stooges‘No Fun’, once famously covered by The Sex Pistols.

Primal Scream are having a whale of a time on their US tour, with bass player Mani even remarking: “This is dedicated to all you fuckers who make my nose hurt whenever I come to Los Angeles” before he launched into ‘Blood Money’.

The gig was also attended by former Creation boss and friend of Primal Scream Alan McGee, as well as Ian Astbury, former singer with The Cult, to whom Bobby Gillespie dedicated ‘Higher Than The Sun’ during the first encore, dubbing him “a real rock star”.

The band concluded their US tour in San Francisco on Saturday. They then return to the UK to play the Reading/Leeds Carling Weekend Festival and Glasgow Green over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
