Prince on Glastonbury: ‘Do you want me to play there tomorrow?’

Singer speaks about rumours linking him to headline slot at Worthy Farm in June

Prince has spoken about the possibility of headlining Glastonbury later this year (2014).

The singer has long been rumoured as a possible headliner for the Worthy Farm festival in June, with Arcade Fire the only act currently confirmed to top the bill at the event.

Prince is currently in London for a series of live shows with his band 3rd Eye Girl and performed live at the Electric Ballroom in Camden last night (February 4) following a press conference at Lianne La Havas’ house in Leyton, London that afternoon.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music prior to the show, the subject of Prince at Glastonbury was raised with the singer saying: “Do you want me to play there tomorrow?” before insisting he was “concentrating on these shows in London, I don’t know what’s happening after.” Quizzed further, Prince was asked, “That’s not a no though?” to which he said, “No!”

Elsewhere in the interview, Prince ruled out playing any large venues while in London, hinting instead at small club gigs. He also discussed his plan to keep ticket prices down for the intimate shows.

Prince’s ‘open soundcheck’ in Camden last night (February 4), largely comprised of new material, including ‘Guitar’, ‘Plectrum Electrum’, ‘PretzelBodyLogic’ and ‘Funk N Roll’. Click here to read the full report from the show.
