Prince joins Mary J Blige on stage in Las Vegas – watch

Duo play 'Nothing Compare 2 U' at the iHeartRadio Music Festival

Prince joined hip-hop and soul singer Mary J Blige on stage at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas last night (September 22).

Four songs into her set at the MGM Grand Arena, the singer stopped her band during a performance of Chaka Khan’s ‘Sweet Thing’ – a song she covered on her 1991 debut album ‘What’s The 411?’ – and told the crowd: ” I got a real good friend in the building. He’s one of the most amazing artists to ever walk the earth.”

Prince, dressed in yellow bellbottom trousers, a flame-print shirt and gold metallic glasses, then walked on stage to thunderous applause and took up his position with the rest of Blige’s band as they restarted ‘Sweet Thing’.

According to Yahoo! Music, Blige told Prince that she was “so blessed to have you here” and asked him to “sing with me tonight”.

Prince then responded by asking the crowd if “y’all mind if I play this thing,” before taking centre stage for a duet performance of his classic track ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ with Mary J. Blige – you can watch the video above. As the song reached its climax, Blige thanked Prince for performing on stage with her and gave him a hug and a kiss.
