Prince‘s unfinished memoir will finally be released this year.
The late artist was handwriting the book – titled The Beautiful One – prior to his death in April 2016 having inked a publishing deal, but only managed to submit 50 pages before he passed at the age of 57 two years ago.
According to publishing agent Esther Newberg, Prince had been working with the author Dan Piepenbring on The Beautiful One [via Variety]. Work continued on the book after his death, with Newberg now confident that it will be available ‘just in time for holiday season’ – the end of 2018.
The book may also feature ‘reproductions of Prince’s longhand pages’. When it was initially announced, The Beautiful One had been described as depicting “an unconventional and poetic journey through [Prince’s] life and creative work”.
Explaining how Prince signed the book deal, Newberg revealed that the agreement was struck in a way which had “never been done before”.
“Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients,” she explained. “We had to do it because I knew [Prince] would not want to meet individually with editors.”
Back in August 2017, Beyoncé penned the foreword for a Prince biography titled Prince: A Private View.
