Professor Green: ‘I’d love to collaborate with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner’

Rapper also says he’s almost finished 'darker' second album

Professor Green has said he would love to “hook up musically” with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner.

Speaking to NME ahead of his appearance at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Carlisle today (May 15), the rapper also revealed he has just 16 days left to finish his second album.

He said: “I’d love to hook up with Alex Turner, I love him, I think he’s one of the best writers of our generation.”

Green also said he’d love to rope in Adele for a duet, telling NME that they’d had an exchange of messages over MySpace after he posted a cover of her single ‘Hometown Glory’. He said: “I did a version of her song ‘Hometown Glory’ a few years ago. She got in touch over MySpace and said how much she liked it. I thought she was going to tell me to get it the fuck off MySpace.”

The rapper added that he is close to finishing his second album, saying he has “16 days to get it done.” He said of the album: “It’s a much more sure record, but it’s a bit darker. We’re going straight for the neck with the first single, I’m not resting on my laurels.”

Green also said he has a “very, very special surprise” for his show at London’s Somerset House on July 8. He said: “We’ve got a very, very special surprise, a pretty substantial addition to the band, which I’m really looking forward to.”
