Rapper to headline first gig at the city's O2 Academy

Professor Green has been announced as the first act to open the new O2 Academy in Leicester.

The UK rapper has lined up a show at the venue for September 23.

“It is a real honour to be asked to perform at the opening of O2 Academy Leicester,” he said. “I look forward to being the first headline act to grace the stage.”

His performance marks the beginning of a series of shows on the grounds of the University Of Leicester. Other acts set to appear on the bill in the coming months include Plan B, The Magic Numbers and Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip.

Two more O2 Academy venues are being set up in the coming weeks as part of a £15 million development.
