Professor Green banned for one year after admitting drink-driving

Rapper pleaded guilty following arrest in November 2013

Professor Green has been banned from driving for one year and fined £525 after pleading guilty to drink driving.

The rapper, real name Stephen Manderson, appeared in Bromley magistrates court earlier today (March 20) following his arrest on drink driving charges after phoning police to report that he had been mugged outside his house in November 2013.

The Guardian reports that the court was told that Green drove his Mercedes after being robbed of his £40,000 Rolex watch in Lewisham, south-east London, where he lives, on November 3. Police discovered Green following a call from a concerned member of the public and was found to have driven with 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Green stated that he will take a drink-driver rehabilitation course in order to get his 12-month band reduced to nine months.

Professor Green was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in the November last year. However, the Crown Prosecution Service has since confirmed that all charges relating to that arrest have been dropped.

Previously in 2013 Professor Green was hospitalised after being crushed between two cars. The ‘Read All About It’ rapper was picking up a hire car to travel to play at a student ball when he was accidentally sandwiched between a ML63 and an SLS AMG.
