Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav charged with DUI and several related offences

Rapper was arrested near Las Vegas in May after being caught speeding on the highway

Public Enemy‘s Flavor Flav has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following his arrest near Las Vegas in May.

The rapper was arrested on May 21 after being caught speeding on the highway near the city’s McCarran International Airport. The Nevada Highway Patrol have since said the rapper was clocked driving at 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Now Flavor Fav – real name William Jonathan Drayton – has been charged with driving under the influence involving cocaine, speeding and having an open container of alcohol. Billboard reports that his lawyer could not be reached for comment on the charges.

Drayton is no stranger to the law, having received two citations in July 2014 for setting off illegal fireworks at his Las Vegas home during the course of a Fourth of July party. In 2013 he pleaded guilty to charges of attempted battery after being accused of pulling a knife on his girlfriend’s son in October 2012. Prior indiscretions include a nine-week jail stint served in 2002 for unpaid parking tickets and for driving on a suspended licence.
