Public Enemy are streaming their new album ‘Man Plans God Laughs’ in full.
The group’s 15th studio effort won’t be released on CD and vinyl until July 25 but is available to hear right now via Spotify. Scroll down to listen. A video for the album’s title track has also been posted online.
In an interview with Maxim magazine, Chuck D called the album a “commentary on the 21st century in this technological – yet highly political – world” and said that the group had been influenced by Run The Jewels, Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West.
A spokesperson added: “‘Man Plans God Laughs’ was created as a reminder that, according to Chuck D, ‘Once we win one victory, another battle develops’.”
Public Enemy last year released deluxe reissues of two of their classic albums, ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back’ and ‘Fear Of A Black Planet’. The two-disc sets helped mark the 30th anniversary of Def Jam Recordings – the one-time home of Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Slick Rick, among others – and included new linear notes penned by The Roots drummer Questlove (‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions…’) and Wax Poetics magazine editor-in-chief Andre Torres (‘Fear Of A Black Planet’).
