Puff Daddy has been released on bail after being charged with criminal possession of a handgun in New York. He was also charged with possession of stolen property after it was found that the weapon was stolen.
He has been released on $10,000 bail and is due to appear in court on Valentine’s Day, 14 February.
Outside Manhattan Criminal Court Puff Daddy said: “I do not own a gun. I do not carry a gun. The charges and allegations against me are 100% false, I feel confident that in the next couple of days I will be vindicated and everything will be all right.”
The same charges against Jennifer Lopez – who was in the car with Puff Daddy when the weapon was found – were later dropped according to police on “the evaluation of evidence”.
A spokesman for Puff Daddy said that the couple had nothing to do with the earlier shooting and are victims of circumstance.
Puff Daddy and Jennifer Lopez fled the scene of a triple-shooting in a Times Square nightclub at 2.20am on Monday morning.
Police said that there was a dispute inside the club a suspect produced a gun and shot three victims. Jamal Barrow, 19, was arrested outside the club for ciminal possession of a handgun.
Puff Daddy and Lopez were in a car that was stopped at 2.30am a few blocks away from the club after fleeing the scene, police said
