The rap mogul and his protege suffer a setback ahead of their court appearance...
A prosecution witness has broken her silence as SEAN ‘PUFFY’ COMBS and his BAD BOY ENTERTAINMENT protege JAMAL ‘SHYNE’ BARROW prepare to go to court in NEW YORK.
The pair are due in court next week (January 17) over their alleged involvement in a nightclub shooting, in which three people were injured. Now one of those shot is alleging she saw Combs with a gun, and also that Shyne was the man who shot her.
Natania Reuben, a witness for the prosecution, was shot in the face in the incident in Club New York on December 27 1999.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, she said: “It’s reprehensible that [Puffy] can…talk about his innocence and plead for compassion. Where was the compassion on the night I was shot? Puffy had a gun. Shyne had a gun. And my life is now changed forever.”
The sensational accusation comes just days after a New York judge issued a gagging order on Combs preventing him from giving any further interviews pleading his innocence to the press in the days leading up to the trial.
Combs faces charges of illegal possession of a handgun, alleged to have been used in the attack, which was found on the floor of a Lincoln Navigator people-carrier in which he was stopped by the police as he fled the scene. He and his bodyguard Anthony Jones, also present in the vehicle, are also charged with attempting to bribe the driver, Wardel Fenderson, with $50,000 to tell police the gun belonged to him.
Shyne faces more serious charges of attempted murder and assault, and if convicted could face up to 19 years in prison.
