JARVIS WINS!

He does Rolf Harris. No, we're not making this up...

PULP star JARVIS COCKER has won a prime-time British TV show for his impression of Australian children’s entertainer ROLF HARRIS.

The singer was one of five artists who appeared in a celebrity version of the prime-time ITV show ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ – where people are asked to impersonate their favourite artist in front of a studio audience. The audience then vote for their favourite.

Jarvis performed Rolf Harris’ ‘Two Little Boys’ dressed as his hero. And won.

Today’s tabloid television critics have been mixed in their reaction to Cocker’s winning effort. Writing in today’s Sunday Mirror (August 18), columnist Ian Hyland declared his impression as “more didgeri-don’t than didgeridoo”, a view not shared by his News Of The World rival, who claimed Cocker to be a “star”.

Back in the real world, his band Pulp are set to appear at next weekend’s Carling Fesivals in Leeds and Reading. The band are expected to perform a Greatest Hits set in support of their new compilation album, due in autumn.
