Pussy Riot have been working in the studio with Le Tigre’s JD Samson.
Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alekhina from the band revealed the collaboration to NME, where they said they were excited to be working with “some real musicians” as their previous work within Pussy Riot had been as “artists” rather than coming specifically from “the music world”.
Speaking about the collaboration with Samson, Tolokonnikova said, “It’s new for us because we’re artists; we’re not really musicians or from the music world. Now we’re working with some real musicians, including JD Samson, on some creative stuff.” She concluded: “Maybe at some point in the future we will do an album, but right now we want to make videos”.
Now, Samson has also posted a photo to Instagram confirming the collaboration. The caption reads “A night in the studio with my favourite women” and shows the three women alongside Le Tigre bandmate Johanna Fateman.
The pair were visiting the UK to speak at a panel in Parliament about human rights when they initially unveiled the news.
