Queen‘s Brian May has said that the band would be interested in headlining Glastonbury in the future – if Adam Lambert was available to perform alongside them.
Former American Idol contestant Lambert linked up with the group for a series of dates earlier this year, and May has described the singer as the only person they have found capable of filling in for Freddie Mercury.
Speaking at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London today (May 21), the 67-year-old told Bang Showbiz that while the band “probably” won’t be appearing at Glastonbury this year, they wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to perform at the festival someday.
“Look these things get put on the table, it would be interesting to do Glastonbury if we were an operational unit at the time,” he said. “You see this year Adam’s off doing his solo work at the moment so it wouldn’t have worked. You only look at things that are possible logistically at the time.”
May will appear on Lambert’s solo track ‘Lucy’, which is to feature on his forthcoming solo album ‘The Original High’.
“He’s doing very well, ‘Ghost Town’ is his single, which is doing great,” May added. “He’s off doing his own thing and then he’ll be back with us in September for some South American dates, including Rock In Rio.”
