Queen’s Freddie Mercury leading NME’s ‘Greatest Singer Of All Time’ poll

Frontman currently ahead of Axl Rose and Michael Jackson - and there's still time to cast your vote on NME.COM

Queen‘s Freddie Mercury is currently (June 4) leading NME‘s poll to crown the Greatest Singer Of All Time.

The flamboyant frontman is currently well ahead of Guns N’ Roses man Axl Rose in second and third-placed Michael Jacksonclick here to cast your vote.

Other contenders include The BeatlesJohn Lennon, Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Paul McCartney.

Muse‘s Matt Bellamy (pictured right) is the only artist in the current Top 10 to have emerged over the past 25 years, while Aretha Franklin is the only female singer in the Top 10. Half of the artists in the current Top 20 are dead.

Voters score each act out of ten to determine the winner – Mercury currently scores an average of 8.8 compared to Rose‘s 7.33 and Jackson‘s 7.21.
