Nick Oliveri was arrested on domestic violence charges last night after a loaded gun was found in his home (July 12).
Police were called to his home after a neighbour reported a disturbance between the former Queens Of The Stone Age bass player and his girlfriend.
TMZ is reporting that Oliveri‘s girlfriend told police he had struck her during an argument the previous day. She said that she had then returned to the house to collect her belongings so she could move out. When another heated argument ensued, she said that Oliveri locked them both inside the duplex. When police arrived with a SWAT team, a five-hour standoff ensued, before Oliveri finally gave himself up. When officers searched his home, they discovered a fully-loaded high powered rifle. Oliveri was then booked on a domestic violence felony. He has since been released after posting $100,000 (£63,000) bail.
Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004. Josh Homme was initially reluctant to reveal the reasons for sacking his bandmate, but was later persuaded to admit that it was down to allegations of domestic violence on Oliveri‘s part.
He has most recently been touring with his former Kyuss bandmates, minus Homme, under the name Kyuss LIVES!.
