Queens Of The Stone Age, Britney Spears, Spiller and TRUESTEPPERS featuring VICTORIA BECKHAM are among the bands due to release singles today (August 14).
Queens Of The Stone Age release their NME Single Of The Week ‘Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret’ today through Interscope, but the main battle for the top of the charts will be between Spiller, with their Ibiza anthem ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ and Truesteppers and Dane Bowers featuring Victoria Beckham with ‘Out Of Your Mind’.
A spokesperson for HMV in London told nme.com that Spiller were edging ahead in the race for the top. He said: “Most weeks it is fairly predictable what song is going to go to number one, but this week it could be one from three. Britney Spears is least likely out of the three big releases with ‘Lucky’, but I think that Spiller will get to number one because of its massive following in Ibiza, but also it’s getting a lot of radio airplay from the major stations in the UK.”
‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ features vocals from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, lead singer with Theaudience, and is also set to be her biggest hit to date.
The final chart positions will be announced this coming Sunday (August 20) at 7pm on Radio 1.
