Quincy Jones to get honourary doctorate

Famed producer will be honoured in Washington

Quincy Jones is to receive an honourary doctorate degree from the University of Washington this June, it was announced today (March 21).

The legendary producer who is best known for his work on Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’ and the hit single ‘We Are The World’, will be presented with the degree at the University’s commencement ceremony on June 14, where Jones is slated to speak.

The University of Washington‘s governing body voted yesterday (March 20) to present the honour to Jones, reports the Associated Press.

Jones is also known for his work as a composer who has arranged for renowned musicians including Ray Charles and Duke Ellington.
