But the Spice Girls' misery continues...
R&B star R. KELLY this week sailed straight into the top spot in the US BILLBOARD 200 with ‘TP-2.com’, while SPICE GIRLS, as expected, limped to a lowly 39 with ‘FOREVER’.
Kelly knocked last week’s Number One, Jay-Z’s ‘The Dynasty Roc La Familia’ down to Number Four with sales of 543,000. Outkast, though, remained a little more buoyant as their ‘Stankonia’ held onto Number Two.
U2, also dropped several places from three to five with ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’, as did Godsmack, seeing ‘Awake’ dip from Five to Nine, while Blink-182’s live album ‘The Mark, Tom, And Travis Show (The Enema Of The State)’ charted at Number Eight.
However, there will be little to celebrate for Spice Girls. As predicted on NME.COM last week (November 10), ‘Forever’ failed to match the success of their previous two albums which both went Top Ten. At present their are no official sales figures for the album from Soundscan, the official tabulator of chart sales.
And there was further unwelcome news for UK acts as Fatboy Slim failed even to break the Top 50. His ‘Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars’ debuted at 51.
