Thom Yorke surprises fans at the Austin City Limits Music Festival with a few bars of the Morrissey/Marr classic
During the band’s set at Austin City Limits Music Festival, Thom Yorke sang a few bars of the Morrissey/Marr classic before Radiohead launched into their own ‘Hail To The Thief’ song ‘2+2=5’. Watch fan-shot footage shared on Instagram below.
Radiohead previously covered another The Smiths song, ‘The Headmaster Ritual’, during a 2007 webcast. Watch that performance below.
Radiohead finish their shows this year with a set next Friday (October 7) at Austin City Limits Music Festival’s second weekend. Thom Yorke told Radio 1 earlier in September that Radiohead will tour again next year. They are among the favourites to headline Glastonbury in 2017, along with The Stone Roses, Daft Punk, Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran.
Earlier this week they released ‘Ill Wind’, a brand new song from the special edition box-set of their latest album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’. ‘Ill Wind’ is one of two bonus tracks on the box-set, which was sent to fans on Thursday (September 29). The other is ‘Spectre’, the song the band wrote when they were approached to record the last Bond theme, which ultimately went to Sam Smith.
