Radiohead kick off 37th series of ‘Saturday Night Live’ – video

Thom Yorke and Co perform 'Lotus Flower' on iconic US show

Radiohead were the musical guests on the opening episode of Saturday Night Live last night (September 24).

The long-running sketch show returned for its 37th series, with the Oxford quintet appearing alongside host Alec Baldwin.

The band performed ‘King Of Limbs’ track ‘Lotus Flower’, which you can watch below, and closed the show with ‘Staircase’, a new song Radiohead premiered on producer Nigel Godrich’s From The Basement project in June.

It’s the first time Radiohead have been seen performing live since their unannounced appearance at Glastonbury in June.

Thom York also performed a secret solo show at the European Fish Fry event in Cornwall on September 18.

Earlier this month, Thom Yorke announced the band would be playing two shows at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on September 28 and 29, but did announce further plans to tour the UK in 2012.

Elsewhere on SNL, 30 Rock star Baldwin began with a send-up of the recent Republican party debates, playing the part of Texas governor and presidential candidate Rick Perry. Baldwin’s monologue featured special guests Seth Rogen and SNL veteran Steve Martin.
