A total of ten finalists will be chosen from the current list of 86 artists – which also includes Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hot Hot Heat, Beck, Queens Of The Stone Age, Turin Brakes, Blur and – N.E.R.D – with the winner announced on October 16.
The Shortlist Music Prize was established in 2001 and is based on the UK’s Mercury Music Prize. The voting panel is made up of a range of judges from the entertainment industry, including [/a]’s Josh Homme, Chris Martin of Coldplay and [a].
The prize has previously been won by [/a] (2001) and [a] (2002).
