The band are confirmed for Germany's Rock Am Ring festival - kicking off a busy summer for them...
RADIOHEAD have been added to the bill at this year’s ROCK AM RING festival in GERMANY, fuelling speculation they will perform UK dates in the summer.
According to the official festival website, [url=]www.rock-am-ring.com, the band are the latest to be confirmed for the German festival, which takes place between June 1-3 at the Nurburgring Race Track. An e-mail posted to the festival mailing list says the Radiohead shows will be the band’s “only gigs in Germany”.
Other bands confirmed to appear at the festival include Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses and A-Ha. The show roughly coincides with the scheduled UK release of Radiohead’s new album ‘Amnesiac’ on June 4 through Parlophone.
The performance is Radiohead’s first confirmed of 2001, and adds to the speculation they will play more shows around the release of ‘Amnesiac’ as part of a wider tour. As reported earlier today on NME.COM (February 7), the band are rumoured to be in the frame to appear at a UK version of the Tibetan Freedom Concert in the weekend left open by the cancellation of this year’s Glastonbury Festival (June 23-24).
Radiohead mainman Thom Yorke has previously hinted the release of ‘Amnesiac’ will be backed by a more traditional promotional campaign, including single releases and live shows.
A spokesperson for the band told NME.COM that no UK dates had been confirmed.
