Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to play secret solo gig at Latitude Festival today

Radiohead producer posts cryptic message on Twitter ahead of second day of festival

Update: Thom Yorke has since confirmed details of his surprise set with the following tweet.

Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich has hinted that Thom Yorke will play a secret gig at Latitude Festival today (July 18).

Day Two of the festival begins today with a headline set from Portishead and apparenaces by The Vaccines, James Blake, Laura Marling, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Savages. Ed Sheeran was the surprise guest on the first day of the festival, playing a late night set on the iArena stage.

Godrich tweeted an image of the artwork for Yorke’s 2014 solo album ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ alongside the Latitude logo earlier this morning. There is no time or stage information, nor confirmation of any secret set at the time of writing. NME has approached a festival spokesperson for official comment.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will close the festival on Sunday. Other artists confirmed to appear across the weekend include The Vaccines, James Blake, Manic Street Preachers, Caribou, Wild Beasts, SBTRKT, Sun Kil Moon and La Roux.

Radiohead have been working on their ninth album since the start of the year with Godrich at the helm once again. In February, guitarist Jonny Greenwood revealed that they had “changed their method” and had been recording for “a couple of months”.

Drummer Philip Selway has also spoken about the band’s next album. The group have been working on their follow-up to 2011’s ‘The King of Limbs’ gradually for some time, but Selway has stated that work on the album will become a “full schedule” for the group’s members from September.
