Guitarist Tom Morello admits Chris Cornell has been rehearsing with the band - but the former Soundgarden vocalist will be not be Zack De La Rocha's replacement...
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist TOM MORELLO has denied former SOUNDGARDEN singer CHRIS CORNELL is to replace ZACK DE LA ROCHA.
US news reports yesterday (January 21) claimed Cornell has been rehearsing with the remaining members of Rage, with a view to him becoming the full-time vocalist.
Speaking backstage at last night’s (February 21) Grammy Awards in LA, Morello confirmed Cornell had rehearsed with the band on some “groundbreaking” material, but denied he was joining the band full-time.
He told [url=]www.sonicnet.com: “Chris Cornell is definitely not the singer of Rage Against the Machine.
“Our only criteria for moving forward is to do something that’s really great, and the chemistry feels fantastic. Depending on who it is, we may or may not keep the name Rage Against The Machine. We’ve been jamming with some friends, and it’s been really fantastic, and the music we’ve been making the last couple months feels as great as anything we’ve ever done.”
Rage picked up a Grammy for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance’ at last night’s ceremony, for the song ‘Guerrilla Radio’.
