A spokesperson for Muggs told nme.com that the DJ was keen to release the new album through Cypress Hill‘s label, Soul Assassins Records. He added the record would feature some established hip-hop artists, as well as giving new rappers the chance to showcase their skills, although he could not confirm who is on the album.
However, according to reports on [url=]www.mtv.com, the album will be called ‘The Soul Assassins: Chapter Two’, and will feature appearances from GZA, Zack de la Rocha, Mobb Deep, Kool G Rap and Goodie MOB.
The album will be the second to be recorded by the Cypress Hill DJ, and is the follow-up to the 1997 album ‘Muggs Presents The Soul Assassins’, which featured guest performances from Dr Dre, B-Real, KRS One and The Fugees.
Cypress Hill plan to release a new single in the UK in early July. The band are currently deciding on which tracks to use from their recent album ‘Skull & Bones’, but it is expected that it will be a double A-side release, with one track hip-hop, the other rock.
The band also return to the UK in June, playing the London Brixton Academy on June 21, followed by a show at the Glasgow Barrowlands the following night (22).
