Johnny Borrell is fighting fit…
Razorlight kicked off their much anticipated UK tour at MANCHESTER APOLLO last night (March 13).
The jaunt was originally due to take place in February, however lead singer Johnny Borrell lost his voice while touring America which forced the dates to be moved.
However he told NME.COM that he’s now fighting fit and looking forward to the rest of the tour.
“I’m just so happy, but the really great thing is not only can I sing for the band, I can sing for pleasure too,” he explained of his lengthy rehabilitation period when he was banned from singing. “That’s what you really miss, singing along to your favourite songs. I’d start then think, ‘Oh no, not allowed!’”
Razorlight’s tour continues tonight with a second night at Manchester Apollo before travelling around the country ahead of next week’s (March 23, 24) shows at Borrell’s hometown venue Alexandra Palace in north London.
“I was really annoyed to postpone (Alexandra Palace) before, but now we’ve got it just before a four day bank holiday, we can have a party,” said the singer of the London dates, adding that he is determined to break America.
“I can’t wait to go back,” he explained. “It would be quite easy for us to go ‘Let’s forget about America’, but I’m really looking forward to going out there with Muse in May. We’ll be playing some new songs and we’ll be ready to put them down when we get back.”
