Red Hot Chili Peppers man speaks about new solo album

John Frusciante releases 'The Empyrean' this month

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has spoken about his next solo album – which he’s been working on with bandmate Flea and fellow guitar hero Johnny Marr.

And the star has also revealed his band are not planning on recording new material together soon.

Frusciante spoke to Music Radar about his tenth solo LP – ‘The Empyrean’ – which is due out on January 26 in the UK[.

“The drive to create music that is pure is my highest priority”, Frusciante said. “Sometimes I’ll get extremely technical in my approach, and other times I’ll just kind of go with the gods of music.”

He added: “I think an artist has to answer to whatever spirits are guiding him. Even if they’re in conflict, that’s OK.”

When asked if Red Hot Chili Peppers were set to record together soon he was less talkative, saying they had “no plans”. The band’slast release was the 2006 double album ‘Stadium Arcadium’.
