Red Hot Chili Peppers man loses home in Malibu fire

Flea's house is 'burnt to a crisp'

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has lost his home in a fire.

Flea‘s $5-million French country-style mansion was one of dozens of houses that went up in flames after the fire started on Saturday (November 24) in Malibu, California.

Flea, whose real name is Michael Balzary, said his home had “burnt to a crisp” in a text message he sent to the Los Angeles Times. Investigators believe the fire may have been started by people “partying” in the woods nearby.

This fire is the latest in a series of wildfires that has been plaguing California for the past several months and has destroyed thousands of homes.

As a result, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has reactivated the state of emergency he declared last month and said he would make aid available to those affected by the fires.
