Red Hot Chili Peppers score first US number one LP

'Stadium Arcadium' is a best seller

Red Hot Chilli Peppers have scored a US Number One album for the first time in their 22-year career.

The double LP ‘Stadium Arcadium’ sold 442,000 copies in the first week of its release Stateside – nearly double the debut seven- day sales of 2002’s ‘By The Way’.

The album is the Chilli’s ninth studio effort, and the band have also scored their ninth Number One on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart – the most by any artist – with the record’s lead single, ‘Dani California’.

‘Stadium Arcadium’ debuted at Number One in the British album chart on Sunday.
