Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers’ new video directed by Olivia Wilde

'Dark Necessities' is taken from new album 'The Getaway'

Red Hot Chili Peppers have shared the video for latest single ‘Dark Necessities’ taken from their latest album ‘The Getaway’.

The video is directed by Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde, who is currently starring in HBO’s Vinyl. Cinematographer Chris Blauvelt – who has previously worked with Sofia Coppola and Harmony Korine – is also involved.

Model Noelle Mulligan stars in the music video. She recently shared a behind-the-scenes snap, writing on Instagram: “SooOoOoooo excited to share this project when it’s done. Olivia Wilde is an epic director (and dope ass human!!) and she certainly keeps some amazing company on her team. This is going to be some cooooool shit. feeling a little bit on cloud nine right now guys…. A little bit on cloud 9.”

Wilde also shared behind-the-scenes photos including one of drummer Chad Smith, writing: “Chad Smith tearing up this crazy kit last night after I asked him to play at double the normal speed.”

The band recently appeared on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. Frontman Anthony Kiedis later claimed that he saved a child’s life during the filming. Speaking in an interview on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Kiedis said “…a woman came out of her house, holding a child saying ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe!'”

He then explained how he started “rubbing the belly” and “bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place and the ambulance showed up.” You can watch the video for ‘Dark Necessities’ via the band’s Facebook page below.
