Anthony Kiedis has been hospitalised

The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman was suffering from severe stomach pains

Anthony Kiedis, frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has bene hospitalised after suffering severe stomach pains.

The group were due to headline KROQ radio’s Weenie Roast in California, but before their set Kiedis was “taken from the venue in an ambulance suffering from extreme stomach pain”, Billboard reports.

Bassist Flea announced onstage at the 16,000-capacity amphitheatre that Kiedis had been taken ill and that they were “devastated” not to be able to play.

KROQ tweeted: “Unfortunately due to illness the @ChiliPeppers were forced to cancel their set tonight at #WeenieRoast. More details to come.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers have not released any more info on the matter yet and the cause of Kiedis’s illness is still unknown.


Last week the Chili Peppers announced details of their new album ‘The Getaway’ and shared its first single ‘Dark Necessities’.

‘The Getaway’, their first record since 2011’s ‘I’m With You’, will be released on June 17. It was produced by Danger Mouse and mixed by Radiohead‘s Nigel Godrich.
