Old album outtake 'Bad Day' is spruced up...

REM are to release ‘BAD DAY’ as the first single from their forthcoming ‘BEST OF compilation.

The track, which was originally an outtake from the band’s 1986 album ‘Lifes Rich Pageant’, has been spruced up to appear on the collection, a selection of the band’s best moments from their 15 years and seven albums at Warners.

‘Bad Day’ is expected to be joined by at least one other unreleased or new track on the compilation, which is out internationally on October 27 and on October 28 in the US.

The band are currently taking a break from rehearsing for their forthcoming world tour and shooting the video for the new single in Vancouver. The clip is to be directed by Tim Hope, who has directed videos for the likes of 1 Giant Leap and Coldplay.

REM‘s 2003 tour kicks off on June 21 in Utrecht, Holland. The dates include a number of European festival appearances, including a highly anticipated headline slot on The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on June 27. They also play T In The Park at Balado, near Kinross in Scotland on July 12 and the Move festival at Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester on July 13.
