Peter Buck arrested at Heathrow after alleged air rage incident...
REM guitarist PETER BUCK was arrested at LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT earlier today (April 21) following an alleged air rage attack on two members of the cabin crew.
According to reports, Buck was arrested by police as soon as the British Airways flight from Seattle touched down.
The usually mild-mannered Buck allegedly became abusive to staff on the plane as soon as it took off, and he got worse as the journey progressed, to the extent that the captain radioed ahead and requested police to attend the plane as soon as it arrived.
The BBC reported earlier this evening that a Scotland Yard spokesman said: “I can confirm that police were requested to meet a flight from Seattle at Heathrow Airport at 9.50am following reports that a male passenger had assaulted members of the cabin crew.
“The man was arrested in connection with assault and is currently in custody at Heathrow police station. He is still there.”
A BA spokesman said: “We take any incident such as this on board our flights extremely seriously. “
It’s thought that Buck was travelling to the UK to prepare for their free 20,000 capacity gig at London’s Trafalgar Square on April 29 to celebrate South Africa Freedom day.
Coincidentally, REM release ‘Imitation Of Life’, the first single from their new album ‘Reveal’ on April 30. The album itself is released May 14 through Warners.
