R.E.M‘s new album, the soundtrack to the Milos Foreman-directed film Man In The Moon is set for release in November through Warner Brothers, while the film is set to open in the US on Christmas Day.
Based on the life of comedian Andy Kaufman, it stars Jim Carrey and Courtney Love; the title was inspired by the R.E.M song which was also about Kaufman.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Pat McCarthy at the studio belonging to Eric Erlandson (of Hole) in June of this year.
Meanwhile Variety magazine in the US reports that Stipe‘s film production company Single Cell – whose latest film Being John Malkovich, directed by Spike Jonze, opens next month – are working on a TV series based around the music business.
