REM to take part in Record Store Day

The band release a limited edition 7-inch

R.E.M are to take part in Record Store Day, held on April 19 to celebrate the importance of local specialist music shops.

The group, who are currently top of the UK album chart with their new album ‘Accelerate’, will also release a limited edition 7″ of recent single ‘Supernatural Superserious’ backed with the unreleased track ‘Airliner’.

Other artists set to take part in Record Store Day include Damon Albarn, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen.

In other news, Editors and Guillemots are to support R.E.M on their summer UK stadium tour.

The band follow their headlining performances at the Oxegen (July 12) and T In The Park (13) festivals in July with four shows in August.

The gigs will take place in Manchester, Cardiff, Southampton and Twickenham.

Cardiff Millennium Stadium (25)

Southampton Rose Bowl (27)

London Twickenham Stadium (30)
