REM preview new tracks in Dublin

And there's time for a few old classics too

REM previewed ten new songs from their forthcoming new album at the fourth night of their residency at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre last night (July 4).

The band are playing the shows before going on to record the follow-up to 2004’s ‘Around The Sun’ with producer Jackknife Lee in the Irish city.

The set featured the new tracks the band have been previewing at the shows all week, including set opener ‘Living Well’s The Best Revenge’, ‘’Mr Richards’, ‘Houston’, and ‘On The Fly’ and ‘I’m Gonna DJ’, which were originally both tipped for inclusion on the last album.

The band also dipped into their back catalogue to play some old songs, including a rare outing for ‘Harborcoat’, the opening track on 1984’s ‘Reckoning’. The track hadn’t featured in an R.E.M set since 1989.

The set was:

‘Living Well’s The Best Revenge’

‘Staring Down the Barrel Of The Middle Distance’

‘Circus Envy’

‘Mr Richards’

‘Wolves, Lower’

‘Houston’

‘West Of The Fields’

‘On The Fly’

‘Harborcoat’

‘Man-Sized Wreath’

‘Carnival of Sorts (Boxcars)’

‘Disguise’

‘1,000,000’

‘Accelerate’

‘Horse To Water’

‘Second Guessing’

‘These Days’

‘Until The Day Is Done’

‘I’m Gonna DJ’

R.E.M complete their run of shows in Dublin tonight (July 5).
