Richard Ashcroft has premiered new solo material on his website, [url=]www.richardashcroft.co.uk, nme.com can reveal.
The site, which was launched yesterday, contains two film loops of Ashcroft recording in the studio. The first shows him singing, backed by an instrumental version of a new track ‘Precious Stone’, while the second shows him playing another new track, ‘(Could Be) A Country Thing, City Thing, Blues Thing’ on an acoustic guitar.
Both songs will feature on the B-side of Ashcroft‘s debut solo single ‘A Song For The Lovers’, which is released on April 3 through Hut. The site also contains the full video for the single.
A spokesperson for Richard Ashcroft told nme.com that Richard has been heavily involved in the construction of the site, and is planning to contribute exclusive filmed footage on a regular basis as the release date for the album nears.
Richard Ashcroft will make his debut solo live performance at this year’s V2000 Festivals at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire the weekend of August 19-20.
