It looks like Richard Ashcroft has beef with Noel Gallagher

Ashcroft fires back at Gallagher over recent songwriting comments

Richard Ashcroft has responded to Noel Gallagher‘s recent claim that he has an “an army of songwriters” writing his music.

Speaking on the Sodajerker podcast recently, Noel said: “I’m offended by singer/songwriters who when you scratch the surface don’t do any fucking songwriting. As far as I’m aware if you scratch the surface of any solo artist in Britain and they’ve all got a team of songwriters behind them apart from me, Paul Weller and Johnny Marr, I’m struggling to think of anybody else.”

Noel then named several artists he believes to benefit from songwriting teams, listing: “Richard Ashcroft, our kid (Liam Gallagher), all the way to fucking Ed Sheeran and the little fella from One Direction, they’ve all got an army of songwriters behind them.”

Responding to Noel’s comments on Twitter, former Verve frontman Ashcroft fired back: “I don’t write my own songs? You want to qualify that NG”. See his tweet below.

Noel’s brother Liam previously reacted to the comments on Twitter, saying that Ashcroft “pisses all over” Noel. See his tweet beneath.

Liam, meanwhile, has claimed that brother Noel is “desperate” to reform Oasis, but that his wife is stopping the warring siblings from joining forces once more.

“He’s desperate to get Oasis back but he knows he’s crossed that bridge,” Liam said. “And he’s not allowed to, his missus won’t let him now. Cos she’s another one.”

“I know for a fact, deep down, he wants to be playing stadiums… You can only play stadiums when I’m there”, Liam added.

“I don’t think our kid’s got it in him anymore, anyway. It seems to me like he’s playing to the snobs and the world and the toffs.”
