Rick Ross arrested for skipping court date

Rapper had been due in court over marijuana possession charge

Rick Ross has been arrested following a gig in North Carolina, where he had an outstanding warrant due for eight months.

Ross had been due to attend a court hearing in Greensboro, North Carolina, in November 2013 over a charge of marijuana possession. The warrant was issued when he failed to attend, and was activated following his concert in the city on Friday (June 27).

As soon as the concert at the Coliseum venue was finished, Ross – real name William Roberts – was taken to a magistrate’s office. He was released after posting bail of $1,000 (£590). The arrest came two days after Ross missed a concert in Detroit when security guards failed to recognise him and refused him backstage access.

Ross, who released his sixth album ‘Mastermind’ in March, recently lost 100lbs, which he has attributed to a cross-trainer fitness regime.
