Ride share shimmering new single ‘Future Love’ and detail upcoming album ‘This Is Not A Safe Place’

The shoegazers' sixth LP will arrive later this year

Ride have shared details of their upcoming new album along with its lead single, ‘Future Love’. Stream the track below.

The shoegaze four-piece released their previous LP ‘Weather Diaries’ in 2017 – their first album in 21 years. It was followed by 2018’s four-track EP, ‘Tomorrow’s Shore’.

After teasing that they had returned to the studio once again, the group have now detailed their upcoming sixth studio record. ‘This Is Not A Safe Place’ is due for release on August 16 via Wichita Recordings.

First single ‘Future Love’ is a shimmering, optimistic cut containing layers of the group’s trademark guitar work and harmonies. “Skies are blue / And I can’t do anything / And the days seem so long / Now you’ve got me going /Yeah, you’ve got me going,” sings Andy Bell.

A press release adds that the track is “steeped in the heady haze of the start of a relationship, when anything seems possible, and one that’s sure to strike a chord as the shimmering start of the summer comes into view.”

Andy Bell and co. have reunited with Erol Alkan for the new material, who also produced their previous EP. Song titles include album-opener ‘R.I.D.E.’, ‘Kill Switch’, ‘Eternal Recurrence’, and ‘End Game’. Check out the full tracklist below.
