Watch as Rihanna cries on stage at first night of UK and Ireland tour

Singer breaks down after arriving 30 minutes late on stage

Rihanna cried on stage near the start of the first show of her UK and Ireland tour last night (June 21).

The singer arrived on stage 30 minutes late at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. She didn’t explain the reason for her late arrival then, during second song ‘Love The Way You Lie’, Rihanna suddenly began crying.

Stopping her tears after a few seconds, Rihanna continued with her performance and performed her full 24-song show.

Later on during her performance, Rihanna said how moved she was by the Irish crowd. She said: “”I only have ever in my life heard an audience of people scream so loud that they sound like one voice and that only happens in Ireland, in Dublin. Thank you so much.”

NME has asked a press representative of the singer for a comment.

Rihanna’s current album ‘Anti’ has been troubled since its release in January. It only reached No 7 in the UK, after confusion surrounded its Tidal-only release before it was eventually issued on other services a day later.

She returned to the Top Five with Calvin Harris collaboration ‘This Is What You Came For’ and recently released her own perfume, Crush.

The ‘Anti’ tour resumes on Friday. Rihanna will play:

Wembley Stadium (June 24)
Coventry Ricoh Arena (25)
Glasgow Hampden Park (27)
Manchester Emirates Stadium (29)
